Pirate Modernity: Delhi's Media Urbanism,
Routledge, London and Delhi. 2010
Few years back, i read a chapter draft of Pirate modernity by Ravi S. This was on accident something so obvious, so routine yet definitional in the life of a city. Yet, accident finds its place more in the fiction and cinema and has not been seriously engaged in academic writings on the city. Speed, shocks and the dreadful encounters of unexpected all are foundational to the modernity. In the case of delhi, these come alive with various markers such as red line buses and visually thick newspaper coverage of road accidents to name a few. Ravi has looked at all these and much more to present the uncanny everyday.
Looking Forward to read Pirate Modernity.
